Pete Carr has been involved with the Mid-Hudson Civic Center for many years, and currently serves as the organization's Board President. He has also served the community in a wide array of capacities with other nonprofit groups, which has included the Campaign Leadership Team for United Way of Dutchess County. Pete is a Forty Under 40 recipient and serves on this committee for the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Insurance Committee for the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is a past President of the East Fishkill Rotary Club, and a former board member of the Pawling YMCA and Pawling Chamber of Commerce.
Nominee Goals:
2008 and 2009 were challenging times for any nonprofit organization. Pete Carr's leadership in navigating the Mid-Hudson Civic Center through the challenge economy, while ensuring the stability of the organization and the viability of the programs offered, was a extraordinary achievement. Through his dedicated efforts and leadership, many youth programs and other valuable community services and events have been brought to Dutchess County residents.
Nominee Impact:
Along with entertainment, the Mid-Hudson Civic Center provides a wealth of youth sports programs and other events that enrich the quality of life in Poughkeepsie and the mid Hudson valley. Many nonprofit and faith-based organizations rely on the Mid-Hudson Civic Center to hold events, and the building also serves as an emergency shelter for the American Red Cross of Dutchess County. These events are made possible only through the dedicated work of the civic center staff and volunteer Board of Directors, and the leadership of Board President Pete Carr.
