Ed Hogarty was a key leader within the Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition’s EITC Tax effort. This initiative is in place to help lower income families file taxes and claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (and other credits) that they are entitled to.

Although Ed had a “full time” volunteer position with the AARP Tax Aide organization where he is the Eastern New York State Coordinator of AARP Tax Aide), he still found time to be a key leader and advisor for the CA$H Coalition. Ed invested many hours in helping the coalition recruit volunteers, identify and set up new tax sites, set up client scheduling procedures, recruit/schedule Quality Reviewers for all of the CA$H sites, and obtain the appropriate IT equipment. Ed personally took responsibility for insuring that all personal computers used during the tax process contained the latest software; and he insured the proper transmission of all e-file tax returns.

Joe got involved with the Zion Food Pantry 10 years ago. It was a smalltime operation working out of a back room of the church rectory. In the beginning there were 8 to 10 families a week , but each year brought more and more people to the Food Pantry. Joe conceived of converting the rectory garage into a more realistic space for our growing needs.
